Akpabio Urges Nigerians To Pray For Victims Of Abuja Bomb Blast

Governor Akpabio

Akwa Ibom State Godswill Akpabio has urged all Nigerians to pray for the repose of the souls of the people who recently lost their lives to the activities of insurgents in the country and the safety and quick recovery of abducted children.
Akpabio who made call on Saturday in his Easter broadcast message.
“Let us spare a moment during the celebrations to pray for our dear Country so that God will help us to overcome the current security challenges.
“The death of Jesus Christ stands out as a perfect example of unconditional love. Let us, therefore, give unconditional love to all of God’s children in Akwa Ibom State, and key into the spirit of this season, by sharing gifts with our neighbours and the less-privileged. As blessed people, let us take our destiny in our own hands and take decisions today that our posterity will be proud of. Let us by our decision today build bridges to include all our brothers and sisters in the Akwa Ibom project, and that way lay a solid moral foundation for our future generation,” he reminded.
According to him, “Easter is a time to reflect on Christ’s suffering and ultimate victory. It is a time to recollect how the anguish of the cross gave way to the triumph of resurrection. It is a time to remember that by His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ gave us victory over death, and liberated us from its fear.”
The Governor remarked “This is what makes Easter one of the most important events in the Christian faith. This is why it should provide us with a lesson in service and a template that we should place public good above our personal comfort. Let us, therefore, use this season of the remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice to heal ourselves of all selfishness. Let us use it to find comfort in our shared commitment to unity and brotherhood. Let us use it to find strength in our common aspirations for a greater Akwa Ibom State bound in love and brotherhood.
“I believe that we are all bound in a single tapestry of destiny. What affects one of us affects all of us. Through unity we stand today in the midst of what we and our Country celebrate as “Uncommon Transformation.” But that resounding success is being threatened today as the forces, which sought to stifle the light of Jesus, begin a fight to destroy what we have achieved as a people.”
He observed “We, however, have no doubt that He, who quickened Jesus from the dead and brought us this far, is faithful to complete His work in us and give us victory. Another valuable lesson of Easter is that in fights between truth and falsehood, justice and injustice; truth and justice will always prevail. Let us, therefore, align ourselves with justice and truth in our quest for the sustenance of our ‘Uncommon Transformation’ and our values as a people.”
Akpabio used the occasion to thank Akwa Ibom people for their ecstatic and tumultuous participation in the recent town hall meetings/projects commissioning, saying “As this administration begins to wind down, we are putting finishing touches to most of our projects and, by God’s grace; most of them will be commissioned this year. Work is at an advanced stage at the 30,000-capacity Ultra-Modern Ibom International Stadium, an architectural masterpiece which has been rated as one of the best stadiums in West Africa.”
The governor recounted “The Ibom International Specialist Hospital, which will serve as a major referral hospital in our Country will also be commissioned this year. The Tropicana Entertainment Centre, a one-stop hospitality complex, with a 250-room five-star hotel, wet and dry park, a 10,000-seater International Conference Centre, a theme park, shopping malls, a galleria and a lot more is at an advanced completion stage. Work is at dizzying speed at the dualized Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Road.
“We are doubling efforts to complete the 1.3km bridge on Etebi/Enwang Road with a length of 23km road early next year. Serious impact is also being made on the dualization of Ibeno to Eket/Etinan road. We have recently commissioned two general hospitals at Ika and Eastern Obolo; and recently commissioned over 500 people-oriented projects executed through Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Committee in the 10 Federal Constituencies of our State during the Town Hall Meetings/Briefings. Our commitment to doing our best within the time still available to us cannot be overstressed,” Akpabio.
