A'Ibom to establish 31 more industries before 2015


Akwa Ibom State government has reiterated its commitment to establish one industry in each of the 31 local government area of the state before the exit of the present administration in 2015.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment and Industrialisation, Chief Senas Ukpanah, gave the assurance during an interaction with a section of pressmen in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.
Ukpanah, who doubled as the chairman of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, disclosed that over 100 business proposals had been received by the corporation for the establishment of cottage industries in the state.
According to him, out of this number, 23 business proposals screened and scaled through the criteria set for the establishment of industries in the state had been forwarded to the state governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, for necessary actions.
“In conjunction with the Bank of the Industry on lending requirements, so far, 23 proposals have met the criteria and eligible to get government recommendations for the loan,” he said.
