In what is turning out to be a season of open letters, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Iyabo, has ruled out further communication with her father till death, describing him as a liar, manipulator, two-faced hypocrite determined to foist on President Goodluck Jonathan what no one would contemplate with him as president.

Senator Iyabo Obasanjo in a letter to her father accused him of having an egoistic craving for power and living a life where only men of low esteem and intellect thrive.

If the State House of Assembly would not effect any last minute adjustment, the Oil- rich State, Akwa Ibom, is to spend N469.374 billion in the 2014 fiscal year.

This amount, which was presented to the State House of Assembly Wednesday afternoon of 11th December, by Governor Godswill Akpabio, is against the total Revised Appropriation of N599.180 billion for 2013 fiscal year.

...As Arik diverts flight over power outage

Over 150 passengers were Wednesday stranded at the Uyo Airport, in Akwa Ibom State, when the Arik flight that was supposed to airlift them to Lagos could not land because the runway lighting was off due to power outage.

One of the passengers, Mr. Festus Akanbi of THISDAY Newspapers, said the aircraft had rescheduled the flight three times from 12:55p.m. to 3:55p.m. and finally to 5:55 p.m.  but when the aircraft took off from Lagos  and arrived the Uyo airspace there was power outage and the runway lights went off, forcing the aircraft to gain altitude.

Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the abolition of the office of  Accountant-General, Auditor-General and Surveyor-General saying they would be designated as Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service.

The Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah told journalists in Uyo, over the weekend that no additional financial implications would be attached to their new designation as only the nomenclature would change with all other things unchanged.

Mysterious healing river appears in Enugu State

A River with 'healing powers' (according to the people of the community) mysteriously appeared in a community in Enugu State called Nachi, in Udi LGA. The river, now called Orimiri Jordan (River Jordan) was first seen on Nov. 11th.

According to reports, a Fulani Herdsmen first spotted the river and ran to people in the community to alert them of the discovery. He told them that as he passed the area with his herd of cattle, he heard a strange noise, and when he turned back, he saw the river that wasn't there previously.

Cross River Government Takes Over 14 Community Schools

Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke has approved the take-over of 14 community secondary schools by the state government.

The state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Offiong Offiong, said this while briefing journalists in Calabar on Thursday on the activities of the ministry. He said the move was to further expand access to qualitative education in the state.

Offiong said that many of the schools were in the rural communities, adding that the take-over would further bring government closer to the people.
