A PRESS RELEASE
The President, the Executives and the entire members of Akwa Ibom State Community (AKISCOM), Lagos wish to intimate all sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State within and outside as well as all friends of the Community and the State of our dire need and determination to build a ‘A State of the Art’ Ultra Modern Civic Centre (AKISCOM PLAZA) in Lagos State as part of our civic responsibility and social welfare development towards our people.
All due and necessary consultations have been made with qualified and experienced architect, civil engineers and Estate valuers who have produced the needed prototype designs with the preliminary cost estimated at about one hundred and fifty million naira (NGN150m).
Moreover, we will not fail to appreciate the Executive Governor of the State, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and the Immediate Past Governor, Sen. Godswill Obot Akpabio for their roles and contributions toward the acquisition of a befitting parcel of land in the highbrow area of Surulere, Lagos for the proposed Multi – Purposed Plaza.
In view of the Community’s lean resources, we have decided to make this clarion call to all Akwa Ibom indigenes and friends to lend us their support both in kind and in cash towards the realization of this laudable objective. We are also seeking the support of corporate organizations, financial giants, NGOs and in-laws who have the interest of the Akwa Ibom People at heart towards the success of this project.
To prove our determination, the Foundation Laying Ceremony of our dream Plaza has been scheduled to take place as follows:

The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, is expected to personally lay the foundation stone.
In order to give all Akwaibomites both at home and Diaspora the opportunity to be part of this history making venture, an on-line direct payment portal (Direct Payment Platform), through which supports could be given with a minimum of NGN1, 000 has been developed and put in place with the following details:

Furthermore, the Community also intends to immortalize the names of individuals and corporate organizations that will contribute/donate towards the building of the Proposed Plaza through categorization of what we call:- AKISCOM Hall of Fame, in which major donors/contributors shall be named after the suites, halls, and wings within the Plaza as underlisted:

Establishment of scholarship scheme at the university level for members/children/wards
Educational enhancement of deserving members/children/wards
Economic Empowerment schemes
Infrastructural Development within AKISCOM Area of jurisdiction
Serve as a rally point to all Akwaibomites in and around Lagos.
With Lagos as ‘Centre of Excellence’ and ‘commercial nerve of Africa’, we believe that the proposed edifice will be of great advantage to both indigenes and non indigenes within and outside Lagos, including those in transit.
