My ordeal in kidnappers' den –Eno Umoren


Seven days after suspected kidnappers abducted Mrs. Eno Umoren, an accountant with Ibom Power Company Limited, security operatives in Akwa Ibom State have rescued her.
  Umoren was captured while returning from church in front of her house.

Akpabio’s N50m largesse war: DGN, AMP sue ANCOP president, Alex Eyengho for N150m damages

The controversy trailing the N50 million grant by Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State to support the Nigerian movie industry, during the week took a new twist with the two Presidents of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) Andy Amenechi and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Zik Zulu Okafor filing a N150 million libel suit against ANCOP president, Mr. Alex Eyengho, at the High Court of Lagos State.
In the suit No LD/ADR/440/13, the lawyer to the claimants, Anthony Emeka Odikpo, is praying the court to grant his clients N150 million as damages for libel.

2015: Our turn to govern Akwa Ibom –Oron group tells Akpabio


Oron ethnic nationality of Akwa Ibom State  Saturday said Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, must make a categorical pronouncement to cede the governorship  position to the Oron nation.The people of Oron nation who are the third largest ethnic group in the state, said the recent proclamation by the governor that Eket senatorial district should produce the next governor in 2015 was okay but not enough.
It could be recalled that at a recently concluded mini-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention, Akpabio was said to have affirmed that the next governor must come from Akwa Ibom South (Eket) senatorial district, putting all controversies to rest.

Akwa Ibom Youth Convention Lagos 2013 holds Sept 21


 The third edition of Akwa Ibom Youth Convention (AYC) will kick-off on September 21, 2013 at the 3,000 capacity Multi Purpose Hall C of the University of Lagos. Organized by Ibom Youth Pathfinder, an arm of Akwa Ibom Youth Development Association, the annual event has become an avenue by which youths from all walks of life are brought together to promote the state’s rich cultural heritage. Similarly it has become a platform that gives youths a strong voice to in the decision-making in Akwa Ibom State.
According to Aniekan Eshiet, Chairman Central Planning Committee, the organisation will not deviate from its mission to equip and empower Akwa–Ibom youths to be good role models in all ramifications. This year’s convention is especially seeking to promote outstanding Akwa Ibom youths in all human endeavours, with outstanding examples drawn from show business (actors, comedians, models, fashion designers), sports and the academic, just as other professionals (architects, nurses, entrepreneurs, pilots, farmers, medical doctors, journalist to mention but few) are going to be recognized.

Rivers and Akwa Ibom governors engaged in a shouting match at Villa’s peace meeting, as Jonathan wades in.
The Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi and his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Godswill Akpabio again clashed at the Sunday night’s peace meeting, held at the Presidential Villa between President Goodluck Jonathan and the governors of the “New” Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.”
Mr Amaechi, who is the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, and Mr Akpabio, the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, were reportedly engaged in a shouting match, pouring invectives on each other.
