34 years after: AKISCOM Lagos Women Wing inaugurates 1st ever newly elected excos

It was a day of class and glamour at the inauguration of Akwa Ibom State Community, (AKISCOM) Women Wing, Lagos chapter, as the newly elected executives were sworn-in into their various offices.

This happened to be the first ever inauguration since inception of the community 34 years ago.
Elder (Mrs) Nkoyo Bassey was sworn-in as the women leader, Akparawa-anwan Celestina Uki, Deputy Women Leader, Mrs Mfon Anthony Edet, Secretary, Mrs Joycy Akpan, Assistant Secretary, Mrs Asari Saviour, Assistant Financial Secretary, Mrs Tina Archibong, Chief Welfare Officer, Mrs Beauty Emmanuel Dan, Social Secretary, Mrs Gloria Abraham, Provost, Mrs Christiana Monday King, Financial Secretary, Mrs Stella Edem, Treasurer and Mrs Mercy Ekpo, Public Relation Officer (PRO).

The women leader, Elder (Mrs) Nkoyo in her acceptance speech, thank and appreciate members, dignitaries and guests who honoured the invitation that was given to them and most especially those members who believed and trusted in them by voting massively for them her and other elected excos, she promised not to betray their trust.
As a team, we hope to bring in the desired innovations and developments, she continued, they will improve on what has been done so far and set the body on a higher trajectory of development as God will enable them. She appealed for supports and cooperation from AKISCOM Lagos as a whole. Elder Nkoyo on behalf of her team, promised to run an all inclusive government, create a conducive atmosphere for women, reconcile and bring back the offended members back to the fold among others.

Dignitaries who graced the well attended ceremony were Chief Otuekong Jackson, Lagos State Chapter Coordinator, Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), Chief Matthew Udoheyop, President General, Uyo Senatorial District (USD), Lagos chapter and his dear wife Prince Felix Udoh, President, AKISCOM Lagos and his beloved wife, Chief Edet Ambang, President, Oron Union Lagos, Chairman of the occasion, Engr Ita Ekanem, Amb. Cornell Udofia, founder CMC Gladiator, Mr Maurice Ukpong, President, Eket Senatorial District, Barr. Ita Umiom, Barr. Cletus Eyo-Udoh, Electoral Committee Chairman, Comrade Anietie Ukpong, President, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Chief Ukoette Etukakpan, Barr. Silas Udoh, Vice President, AKISCOM Lagos, Mrs Queen Iwang, Mr Gabriel Edem, Pastor Akpama among others.
 
Prince Felix Udoh, President, AKISCOM Lagos, expresses gratitude to God for seeing the community, especially the Women Wing through, before, during and after the election. He added that, it was not an easy task, being the first ever election conducted for the women wing in this community, and to God be the glory, this was possible during my tenure as the President of AKISCOM. Up next is the youth election, which I am trusting God will witness massive success just as the women wing, he assured.

The event, which took place at the Prestigious AKISCOM Hall located at No.4 Adedapo Street, off Awonaike Street, Yaba, Tejuosho, Lagos was chaired by Engr Ita Ekanem and a well known, hilarious MC, Seowo Oto anchored the inaugural ceremony.

The chairman, on his opening and welcome address, pleaded with the AKISCOM main body exco to give the women the free hand to operate in order to get maximum results from the election which was adjudged free and fair in the community. Give them all the necessary supports they need to succeed, he appealed. He also urged the women leader and other elected excos to discharged their duties without fear, faviour or bias, he prayed God’s wisdom for the excos to succeed in during their tenure.
