Lagos agog as AKIFA holds a 2-day Cultural Festival

Preparations are on top gear as Akwa Ibom Forum, Ajegunle (AKIFA), Lagos will on December 6th and 7th, 2019 hold the city of Lagos State spellbound in celebration of her two days Annual Cultural Festival Season 2.
According to the President, AKIFA Lagos, Amb. Marshal Udo: “Ibom Cultural Festival is a project of Akwa Ibom Forum, Ajegunle (AKIFA), Lagos under the auspices of Akwa Ibom State Community (AKISCOM), Lagos, Ajegunle Chapter. The project is an annual 2 days cultural festival tagged: “Ajegunle Ibom Cultural Festival Season 2” with the theme: “Culture As A Tool For Unity and Economic Development". The event is slated for 2days Friday, 6th and Saturday, 7th December, 2019 at Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Council Secretariat, Bale Street, Ajegunle, Lagos.”

Chairman, organising committee, Mr. Sylvester Akpan also added that: “The Ajegunle Ibom Cultural Festival is a 2 day yearly event which is held every December in Ajegunle - Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area and it is tied to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom vision on Dakkada Philosophy. The event is aimed at promoting unity among Akwa Ibom indigenes resident in the Local Government and its environs as well as promoting the rich cultural heritage of Akwa Ibom people. It is our hope to host two thousand guests, visitors and indigenes of Akwa Ibom State during this festival; it is expected to attract indigenes, well-wishers and friends of Akwa Ibom State in Lagos and it environs.

Activities lined up to celebrate this year event on the first day include: Cultural dances, carnival float through the major streets in the Local Government, while on the second day, there would be display the best of Akwa Ibom traditional cuisine, live band, symposium, traditional palm wine green carpet; it will also showcase the rich culture, beauty of Akwa Ibom people and attract tourist traffic and awards to the deserved distinguished personalities. In addition, the event will help strengthen relationship amongst the local government policy makers and private sectors within the local government and the state at large by empowering and uniting our indigenes in love and harmony.

The historical event will witness Crème de la crème in different fields of endeavour. To participate in cutting the tape by the Local Government Chairman, Hon Fatai Ayeola is Prince Felix Udoh, President, AKISCOM Lagos, to officially declare this year event open. The even is free and open to all Akwa Ibom State indigenes, visitors and it will also affords them the opportunity to experience different music and cultural performances. This festival promotes cross-cultural awareness and fosters inter cultural relationship. The first edition of Ibom cultural festival showcase was a big success, beautiful audience, wonderful performances and the atmosphere was awesome. This year edition is loaded with surprises from the organizers of the event, Akwa Ibom Forum Ajegunle (AKIFA), Lagos.
