AKISCOM women wing sets to empower widows, less privileged, present awards this weekend

The executive council and the entire members of Akwa Ibom State community, Women Wing, Lagos will this weekend, Saturday November 23rd, 2019 empowers widows and the less privileged in the community.

It is now a tradition in the community for women wing headed by Mrs Idongesit Ifot (a.k.a Eka Ndito Akwa Ibom ke Lagos), the wife of the immediate past president of AKISCOM, Chief Elijah Ifot in making sure that widows and less privileged is recognized and celebrated in the community every year.

According to Mrs Ifot: “As a community women leader of over six years, it has been our tradition in this community to remember the widows and empower the less privileged among us. I personally draw inspirations and emulated the lifestyle of Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, the first lady of Akwa Ibom State who dedicated her life to the service of the women most especially, the widows and the less privileged through her pet project called Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Program (FEYReP).

The project (FEYReP), which has five main objectives of creating a platform to showcase successful families, empowering women to provide economic and emotional support to their families, advocating for the prevention of teenage pregnancy and education of girl child, creating a platform for promoting moral values and academic excellence in our youth and supporting government effort towards sustainable development.

She continue: “I am towing the path of Her Excellency in making sure that Akwa Ibom women in Lagos is not left out. I want to equally use this opportunity to appreciate our Mother (Mrs Martha Udom) for her support to AKISCOM women in the past. I am also calling on Her Excellency for more support as Akwa Ibom State women, especially widows and less privileged women are passing through critical and unpleasant situations in Lagos.

The Annual event tagged: “Welfare Day Package, End Of Year Get Together and Award presentations” will take place at the Community Secretariat, 4 Adedapo Street off Tejuosho Road Barracks Bus stop, Yaba, Lagos at 12:00 noon prompt.

This event is aimed at putting smiles on the faces of widows; less privileged and also appreciates women for their steadfastness, loyalty and commitment towards the growth of the organization.

The climax of this year event will be the presentation of awards to the deserving recipients for their immense and immeasurable contributions to the growth and development of AKISCOM women wing.

The dignitaries and awardees expected at the event are Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, the first lady of Akwa Ibom State, Akp. Michael Ekpenyong, Akwa Ibom State Liaison Officer, Lagos,   Madam Ogechi Kalu, Prince Felix Udoh among others.

The event will be covered by Ibom Celebrity Int’l Magazine, an online news platform, Pioneer Newspaper and AKISCOM Voice Magazine.
