Hear her: “I decided to celebrate those widows who are old, ranging from 70 years and above. While I was deliberating where I will actually host the party for them, I remembered that during my Nursery and Primary school days I had a head mistress, she is 84 years old now and she is also partially blind now. She was such a nice person to all of us that attended Abak International Nursery School, Oku Abak, Abak Local Government. Her name is Madam Akon Etukudo a.k.a Ma Mkpokporo. So I say there is no better place to celebrate these widows than in her house at no 3 Awa Etukudo Street Abak. On November 19, 2017, although it rains cat and dog that day, the party still went ahead as planned. We had in attendance over 60 people who turned up despite the heavy down pour. It was indeed a fun fill party and it was nice to see those old widows paint their faces and look like under 18s. They all sang, danced to sweet music that was played for their delight. Each of the widows were given a token, wrapper and browses to go with, the men counterpart were not left behind, bottles of Eva wine were given to them also.”
“An award was presented to Madam Akon Etukudo a.k.a Ma Mkpokporo for her outstanding contributions to educational development in Abak and also as the best Head Mistress of Abak International Nursery School Oku Abak, Abak LGA, Akwa Ibom State.
The chief celebrant Mrs Akon Etukudo, while giving her acceptance speech for the award and all other gifts she received on the day thank Queen Inem Foundation for her kind gesture in remembering her, she said that this was the first time someone/Group has remembered her, she pray God blessings to raise upon Queen Inem Foundation and the founder; that for her to remember her, God would also organize people to remember her too in all her endeavours. She urged Queen Inem Idiong to continue to hold the tenet of good virtues she was taught while she was in Nursery School.”
In her part, Queen Inem assured Mrs Etukudo that she will continue to hold the good virtues she learnt while growing up and continue to be a good ambassador of the school. She also says that she will not stop celebrating them as long as God is blessing her with more years and wealth on earth.
This soft spoken, eloquent and Tv presenter is the founder of Queen Inem Foundation, where she trained children on how to report and broadcast news on tv and radio in and outside Akwa Ibom State, especially in her Abak L.G. Area every year. She was born on November 14.
