GROUP SOLICITS FOR IBESIKPO ASUTAN EKPE INDIGENE FOR SENATORIAL SEAT

Deacon Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State
As the country prepares for another round of general election by 2019, political gladiators, interest groups associations and individuals have begun scheming to either position candidates or regions for one political advantage or the other. One of such is the ELDERS FORUM of Ibesikpo Asutan Ekpe.
Lagos a socio-cultural group who have made a case for an indigene from the area to be elected as the next senator representing Uyo Sen. District n Akwa Ibom State. They made their position known in an extra ordinary meeting convened to announce some far reaching decisions arrived at by them on issues that concern Ibesikpo Asutan Ekpe Local Govt Area under Uyo Senatorial District. They hinged their argument on the fact that since they return of the country to democratic practiced and governance in 1999, Itu and Etinan Federal Constituencies in Uyo Senatorial District have been the ones that produced Senators of the Federal Republic representing Uyo Sen. District.
They stated that this trend has negated the practice of fair play, equity and justice which they asserted “has ultimately under developed the area, alienated them in term of Federal presence and make them irrelevance in decision making that affects their common interest”. They therefore called on the people of the constituency to begin the search for a credible person that will adequately represent them to be filled as candidate for Uyo Sen. Dist. when the time comes and advised political parties to consider fielding persons from Ibesikpo Asutan Ekpe LGA as  their preferred Senatorial candidates representing Uyo Sen. District come 2019.
The chairman of the ELDERS FORUM Ibesikpo Asutan Ekpe, Lagos, chief E O Etim  while speaking further with newsmen disclosed that Senators Effiong Bob, Eta Enang and Albert Akpan who in one time or the other represented Uyo Sen. District have filled the slot of Itu and Etinan Federal Constituencies leaving  Ibesikpo greatly marginalize by that arrangement and that it will be politically wise for their LGA to fill in the next slot for the senator under Uyo Sen. District.
All the executive members of the group and the prominent sons and daughters of LGA including Major (rtd) Nkanta among others who attended the crucial meeting endorsed the call and declared that the search for their own for the Sen. seat has just begun.
With this development, Mrs Josephine Akpan, a prominent member of the group enthused that now is the time for Ibesekpo Asutan Ekpe to assert their relevance and influence in the political scheme of things under Uyo Sen. District in order to attract development and Federal presence to their area.
They therefore, call on the Elders of Ibesikpo Asutan Ekpe at home and in the Diaspora and well meaning indigenes of the area as well as the peace loving Governor of the state, Deacon Udom Emmanuel who they believe is a man of principle and fair play to impress on the political stakeholders to consider an Ibesikpo Asutan Ekpe indigene as the next Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District as they vehemently stated that they will not shift their stand on this move.
