 Barely two years since AKISCOM Youth Wing, Lagos, was inaugurated by Chief Elijah Ifot, President AKISCOM Lagos, and Prince Akan Eduoku as the youth leader, the wing has undergone tremendous growth and development.

Driven with the passion of improving the well-being of the Youths and positively impacting on the lives of her members, the executives of Akiscom Youth Wing Lagos led by Mr Akan Eduoku as the youth leader initiated an Empowerment Scheme to train her members in various skills and trades which has witnessed tremendous success just six months since the youth wing was inaugurated.

Since he took the envious position as the youth leader his desire has been, taken the able Akwa Ibom young boys and girls who are roaming the streets of Lagos off the streets in order to make their lives meaningful.

The training got across several skills and vocations such as Fashion Designing, Information Technology, Agriculture, Driving, Aviation, Auto-Mechanic, Leather Footwear Designs, Make up, Decoration, Videography, Photography, Digital Video Editing, Wood work, Event Management, Bakery.

Currently, 10 members of the Youth Wing are under going training in Software Engineering (Information Technology), Fashion Designing, Agricultural Technology, Driving, Make up and Hair Dressing, Video Editing, Aviation, Decoration and Bakery after a thorough screening by the empowerment committee led by Mr Edidiong Udoh as the Chairman of the committee.

The Youth wing intends to empower up to 200 youths in various skills acquisition and vocation training before 2019. This Scheme thrives on the funding by Akwa Ibom State Community Youth Wing, Lagos, with support from well meaning individuals, private bodies and public organisation.

The youth leader got his inspiration from the ongoing empowerment and self realisation programme called DAAKADA of his Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel whose agenda on assuming office as governor, is determined to make sure that every Akwa Ibom youth in the state and diaspora is touched positively by his administration.

The youth empowerment scheme launch is scheduled to hold on December 3, 2016 at National Institute for Medical Research, Yaba, Lagos by 12 noon.

Expected to attend are the executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel, Speaker House of Assembly, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Bar. Onofiok Luke, SA to Governor on Youth Matter, Aniefiok Iwaudofia, Akwa Ibom State Liaison Officer, Akparawa Michael Ekpeyong, Deputy Speaker, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. (Princess) Felicia Bassey among others.

Bar. (Hon.) Speaker, Onofiok Luke, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to be given an award.
