No Ebola case A'Ibom- Health Commissioner

Nigeria and some West African countries were through into abrupt panic following the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus. The virus which is highly infectious was brought into Nigeria by a Liberian, Mr. Patrick Sawyer. 
Since the news that some Nigerians had contacted the virus from Mr. Sawyer broke, and the fears that the virus is spreading in the country, Nigerians have been living in fear while adhering to the prescribed precautionary measures.
In Akwa Ibom state, there have been serious panic over the virus, however, the people can now hiss a sigh of relief as the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ememabasi Bassey has assured that no case of the virus has been recorded in the state so far.
Dr. Bassey made the disclosure during the commissioning ceremony of the 2014 free medical care programme organized by Total E&P Nigeria in Ebughu, Mbo Local Government Area. Dr. Bassey, who was represented by Dr. Martins Akpan, said that presently the state is free of the virus and cautioned the people against unnecessary panic.
He urged the people to ensure that they adhere strictly to all the measures prescribed for prevention of the virus.
The health commissioner however noted that the state through the ministry of health and other health agencies, has taking some proactive steps through setting up of isolation centers and other precautionary measures in case there and outbreak in state.
