The well-attended event, which took place at the spacious Graceland Multipurpose Hall, Ikorodu, Lagos was attended by Akwa Ibom indigenes residing in the area and beyond.
Uwem Umoh who was the key speaker at the event in his speech said that “No state or country can witness a true transformation except individuals first and foremost transform his or her self and he further stated that transformation occurs from inside out, he urges all the participants to shun self pity, be ready to work and improve on themselves by changing their mindset, think positively and believe in themselves, when that is done, transformation will come naturally.” ITG is a non-governmental organization geared at transforming Akwa Ibom indigenes through skill and technical empowerment. It also embarks on Education for all project which is targeting at providing five million customize exercise books, biros for students and pupils in secondary and primary schools respectively.
According to President ITG, Emmanuel Joshua who said “We are embarking on a project called Education for all, by achieving this, ITG promise to give out about five million customize exercise books, biros, sponsors about two people (less privileges) from our indigenous churches effect from September 2014.
We solicit for partnership of well-meaning Akwa Ibomites to actualize this great dream. Also in the lists of what we need are sewing machines, computer systems, hair drying machines, digital cameras, musical instruments etc.”
Where people are not transform, they are deform, where people are not skillfully and technically empowered, they will remain powerless, aimless and valueless to the community, society and the state at large. This is where ITG is given birth to,” he opined.
