USD holds election as Chief Udoheyop emerges president general

Uyo Senatorial District (USD), Lagos Chapter was in a joyous mood yesterday, Saturday October 5, 2019 after conducting a very peaceful, fair and transparent election, which led to Chief Matthew Udoheyop emerges as the President General.

The election which took place at Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio (MMI) secretariat No 65 Rufai Street, Ojuelegba, Lagos witnessed a huge turn out of sons and daughters of Ibibio land and Akwa Ibom State indigenes residence in Lagos and it environs.


Dignitaries who were presence at the election which adjudged to be the most fairest, conducted by a three-man committee, chaired by Elder Enefiok Udoh (retd) were Prince Felix Udo, President, Akwa Ibom State Community (AKISCOM), Lagos, Hon Emmanuel Bassey, SA to Honourable Speaker, Liaison Office, Lagos, Chief Solomon Ubon Akpan, Akparawa (Barr.) Cletus Eyo-Udo, Legal Adviser, AKISCOM, Comrade Promise Udofia, Internal Auditor, AKISCOM and Chairman, AKISCOM Ajah chapter, Lagos among others.
Those elected alongside with the Chief Udoheyop were, Akp. Nseobot William, Vice President, Akp. Uwem Idaha, Secretary General, Mr Alfred Usanga, Assistant Secretary, Idongesit Stephen, Treasurer, Akp. Matata Udoekot, Financial Secretary, Akp. Cletus Akpan, Provost, Akp Gospelo Etim, PRO, Mr Osom Joseph, Publisher, Ibom Celebrity International Magazine (online), Media Officer, Mr Peter Peter, Assistant Financial Secretary, Akp./Barr. Cletus Obong Eyo-Udo JP, Legal Adviser and Miss Eno-Obong Robert, Chief Welfare Officer.
The USD President General elected, Chief Udoheyop, who holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering, a Diploma in Marketing Management, MD, Management and Human Resources Consultant, an affiliate with foreign partner, Pioneer chairman, Uyo Senatorial District, Lagos, current chairman Uyo LGA indigenes, Lagos and several other achievements to his credit, appreciated USD members for their trust and confidence they have in him to build the USD of their dream.
According to him: "I'm a very busy person who does not have enough time even to himself not to talk of the community, but with the confidence you have in me, I promise, I will not disappoint you."
"He therefore, appealed for the cooperation of the elected officers and all members to be committed, available, united for the purpose of moving USD forward. And to all the elected officers, he said: "I will not welcome the idea of after being elected, you will not be available to do the work as you can be called any time for one thing or the other. "I therefore appeal that, you take this work seriously, be selfless, tenacious, committed and sacrificial in discharging your duties. This is the time for all of us to farm, the harvest time is coming for all to enjoy, he added.
Uyo Senatorial District comprise nine (9) local government areas in Akwa Ibom State which are Uyo, Uruan, Itu, Nsit Ubium, Nsit Atai, Nsit Ibom, Ibesikpo Asutan, Etinan and Ibiono Ibom. It is said to be the Ibibio speaking majority ethnic group in the state.
The elected officers have three years tenure to spend in office after which another election will be conducted.
