2015: Akpabio urges youths to be agents of change

Godswill Akpabio
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has urged youths in the state and other stakeholders to be the catalysts that will drive the state to becoming a haven of industrialisation and model of the country’s economy.

Governor Akpabio, who stated this in Uyo at the weekend during the inauguration of the National Secretariat/Resource Centre of Akwa Ibom Young Professionals’ Leadership Initiative, said the change they so desired would become a reality when they took advantage of the programmes of the state government.
Represented by his Special Assistant on Power, Dr. Victor Udo, the governor said he was happy to be associated with the dreams and vision of the group, adding that their existence would make his job easier.
The governor urged the youths to be committed in their climb in life by doing their best for the future of Akwa Ibom State, adding: “Hard work, honesty and sincerity are profitable. We
do not have any other state, so, do your best for the future of the state because posterity will judge you.”

Also speaking, a former chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Dr. Chris Nyong, charged the young professionals to be patriotic in their services to the state and the country, saying: “To be a
professional is an achievement, but to be a youth is an advantage.”

In his remarks, the National President of the group, Mr. Ofonime Enoh, said the group was founded in 2007 in response to the growing need to encourage active participation of young professionals of the state origin across various industries in the world in politics and governance.
