The Akwa Ibom
State Community, Youth Wing, Lagos State chapter, meeting for the month of June
held last Saturday, 10, 2017. The meeting witnessed the largest turnout ever,
since the inception of AKISCOM Youth Wing in August 2015, this was as a result
of the forthcoming AKISCOM Youth Wing election schedule July 8, 2017.
This was the attendant of the March meeting, scanty and empty |
Another cross-section of AKISCOM Youths member at the April meeting still very scanty. |
Unlike previous
meetings, which always recorded poor attendant and empty seat all over the
places, the June meeting has the longest queue of new and unregistered members
lining up to write their names in attendant register and to get registration
forms respectively.

Mammoth crowd attended the June meeting |
Meanwhile, there
is an insinuation that some of the aspiring youth leaders were the reason for
the mammoth crowd, those campaigning for the enviable AKISCOM Youth leader’s
position went to nooks and crannies of Lagos State to hire non-member of Akwa Ibom youths living
in Lagos to the meeting and they even went as far as paying for their
registrations in order to gain their vote.
L-R: Emmanuel Ayara, Prophet David Sunday (Chairman) and Mr. Mfon Emeh were the members INEC Committee presented to the house at the June meeting. |
INEC committee members
were presented to the house in respect to the forthcoming AKISCOM Youth
election. They include Prophet David Sunday (Chairman), Mr. Mfon Emeh and
Emmanuel Ayara.
The INEC
chairman, Prophet David Sunday spelt out the requirements, qualifications and
legibility for voters and those to be voted for, which include among others -
• Must be a
registered member
•You must be a
member of the wing for at least three to six months before you can vote.
• You must have
attended meetings for six months as a member consecutively.
• You must
fulfill all your financial obligations and etc.
With this
declaration by the INEC chairman, it is then means that all those who register
as members in the month of June stand disqualified, since the election comes up
in July 8, because they are not up to three months as member of the AKISCOM
Youth Wing.
The Electoral
positions were zoned as followed:
1. Eket Senatorial District (Youth Leader, Assit. Sec. 1, Assit.
Fin. Sec., Welfare 2, Provost 2).
2. Uyo Senatorial District (Deputy Youth Leader 1, Treasurer, PRO,
Assit. Sec. 2, Welfare 1)
3. Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District (Gen Sec., Financial Secretary, Deputy
Youth Leader 2, Provost 1, Director of Social).
It is
interesting to know that, some suspected members of AKISCOM main body were
sponsored by some of the aspirants to storm AKISCOM Youth meeting venue to challenge,
insult and distract the incumbent Youth Leader, Prince Akan Eduoku from
performing his legitimate duty. They disrupted the meeting, and directly or
indirectly campaigned for their preferred candidate.
But the amiable
and articulated Youth Leader was not perturbed; he was composed and he carried
out his duty with maturity and understanding, the virtue, which endear so many youths
to him.
It is therefore
suggested that, the AKISCOM President, Chief Elijah Ifot and his executives
should make available maximum-security officials from the Lagos State Police
Command to be at the venue of election to avert blood shed or violent of any
kind. And to see to it that the election is free and fair.
The AKISCOM
Youth Wing election will take place on July 8, 2017 at AKISCOM Hall, No 4
Adedapo Street, off Awonaike Cresent by Tejuosho Road, Surulere, Lagos. Time:
10:00 am prompt.
In our next
publications, the faces and qualifications of those running for the position of
youth leader will be unveiled.
